LAKE MINNETONKA HALF MARATHON

A week and a half ago Ryan, I and about 9 other friends and friends of friends ran the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon. We have managed to form a 'virtual running' group which is fun. We meet for strategy meetings during the training months to discuss how the training is going, gels, running watches and of course have an adult beverage or two. Those of us that ran this race last year all beat our previous years time. Unfortunately the route was changed from the previous year and the last mile had hill after hill. It was miserable. We all finished without walking though! I never thought I would be able to run over 2 hours without stopping. Running really is a mental game. Getting the runs in this year seemed to be more difficult to do with my travel schedule, Ben being more mobile and Ryan studying. It was hard to balance everything but I am so glad it worked out.

Don't we look like trouble? We are on our way to the start!

We are all still smiling after the race! We even received medals for finishing!

The weekend of the run was very fun. The weather was cooperative and sunny. It has been brought to my attention that I really don't care much for 2 hours of running but the events before and after keep me coming back for more. The weekend kicked off with Megan and Vince arriving Friday, Saturday people came over for a pasta feed dinner, Sunday was the run with a stop for bloody mary's to celebrate, home to clean up and then meet up again for an afternoon grill out. It was an exhausting weekend but we are already talking about what run we will be doing next!

Cheers! We did it!

We look and smell much better here! A shower never felt so good!

My biggest fan! Ben stayed at Grandpa and Grandma Fox's the night before the race but he cheered for us at the grill out.
